Today started Day 0 of my 30 journey of No sugar and No alcohol! And yes, I decided to go the WHOLE30 and eliminate gluten, dairy, soy, peanuts, all grains, beans and legumes.   I spent the day preparing myself and my kitchen and my “healthy refrigerator”.  Well the refrigerator was not as healthy as I thought, it is now one trash bag lighter and the freezer is one trash bag lighter as well.  Yes, many of my so called “healthy foods” had to go!!!  And today, again surprised me, with how many foods in my kitchen had sugar.

So I deemed today, “Say Goodbye to…..” Day!!  It was a very sad day!!  A bit emotional! And extremely humbling.

Goodbyes were said to many of my favorites:
Sriracha Sauce ( all 3 bottles had sugar!!! Are you kidding me?), Sriracha Barbecue Sauce, Reduced Calorie Pita Chips, all my hummus, tortilla chips, Trader Joes Green Dragon Hot Sauce (sugar), Pita Crackers, Fat Free Balsamic Vinaigrette (sugar), Fat Free Soy Ginger Dressing (sugar), Brianna’s Blush Wine Vinaigrette (first ingredient sugar), Brianna’s Creamy Balsamic (second ingredient honey), Trader Joe’s, Peach Salsa ( sugar), pretzel buns, Pop Chips, BBQ beans, lemonade, Trader Joe’s Cinnamon Raisin Rolls, Oatmeal, Simply Elizabeth’s Granola (YUM!!), Quinoa, Farro, Barley, Black Bean Pasta, whole grain english muffins, gluten free sour dough rosemary bread ( Yup – sugar!!), goat cheese, truffle cheese…. and the big two……. Wine and Chocolate!!!!   Holy Moly what have I done???

And I thought I was doing pretty good here!!!

The afternoon was spent planning meals and shopping at Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. Yes, believe it or not, I went back to Trader Joe’s to complete my food planning for the week and they did not disappoint!!!!!

The evening has been prepping and planning for the week. I was amazed at how this was panning out. Excited, Scared and Angry… angry at the Sugar Industry for highjacking so many of my favorite foods!!!! Damn them!!! I am determined to develop a broader pallet.  Thank you Miss Katie W. for entertaining us all the way through Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s!!

Today also included stepping on the scale – Yes I did!  And taking my measurements and a photo.  Of course you have to have a before and after photo, hello?? Isn’t that what all the websites do? So, go do it!!!!  This is an experiment right?  I really want to see if there is a change. Take your photos and send them to me in 30 days!!!!   Let me just say, I personally am not doing this to lose weight, rather to get healthier.  I plan to maintain my current calorie intake.  I am simply going to change the nutrient dense foods I choose to eat.

Here is what I am starting with:

Day One Breakfast
2 Hard Boiled Eggs
