Time ushers in changes to our health, it's important to be aware and manage these challenges along the way. We are here to guide your through these changes with grace. Often, we do this through education, awareness, and good decision making as we age.
The reality is that no one can escape aging. We are all in this experience together. Do you recall a time when you were not aging? When was that? We talk all the time about how quickly time goes by how quickly our kids grow up, how it seems like just yesterday we graduated from high school or college, got married, had our children, saw our best friends. Then, in the blink of an eye time passes.
At Serban Wellness and fitness, to help you optimally age, we look at every part of your life:

The best part of my job is that I learn something new every single day. I'm able to use this information with my next client or clients. I cannot wait to share this with you. I have made it my life's passion to bring together the natural aging process with those things that are unexpected. Throughout my life, I've been drawn to being creative through exercise. As a recreation therapist, it was my job to help kids and adults with a variety of disabilities figure out how to deal with the challenges they had in their lives. We did this through play, we did it through all kinds of movement, which was a super fun job, by the way. As my career grew, I was able to add my Master's degree in rehabilitation, this brought me an abundance of knowledge and experience that deepened my awareness of how the body works and changes over time. This was fascinating to me and I have been able to take on clients that have had very, very unique situations or what they thought were very unique. Together, we’ve built the bridge of success and built a beautiful, comfortable path through their process of aging, whether it be in their 30s, their 40s, 50s,60s, 70s, even 80s and yes, 90s. Currently I have 3 clients in their 90’s who are amazing in their own right and have aged beautifully and are loving the process called life!
It's never too late!
I have a client that I've been working with for four years. This lady has exercised her entire life. She is a passionate learner, passionate exerciser, passionate about what she eats. She has raised a family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. I'm talking about one of my star clients, Miss Ruth. Ruth is 96 years old. Ruth began training with me at 92 years old. I train her three days a week. When we began, 4 years ago, she as in daily severe chronic pain, using a walker with an order placed for a wheelchair. Now, climbing seven flights of stairs is one of our weekly workouts. Yes, this amazing woman climbs seven flights of stairs. She doesn't climb them like a 20-year-old. However, she's 96 years old and we do this every week. That's quite an accomplishment.
Ruth has very little pain and is in very good health. As she ages, things that change in her body still surprise her. The other day Ruth asked me “Debbie, do you think I should be doing HIIT training?” I looked at her quizzically and processed her question. “You mean high-intensity interval training?” I asked. Her response was “Yes, of course. I think that's something I need to a dd to my training program”. 'I’m too old!' is only an excuse. It’s never too late.
Or as Ms. Ruth says to me… “ I’ll see you next time, God willing and the creek don’t rise.”
